The Bottletop Band ? 'One In A Million' Review | Single Reviews ...

The concept behind The Bottletop Band is, in a nutshell, amazingly cool. UK charity Bottletop was created by Cameron Saul (son of Mulberry founder Roger Saul), and came to prominence with the Mulberry Bottletop bag collection, which created ethical employment in Salvador and Brazil, and garnered fans including Kate Moss, Rachel Weiz and Annie Lennox. But now, the charity is taking on musical ventures as it aims to raise funds and awareness through musical collaborations between British artists and Brazilian musicians. The Bottletop Band features the likes of Carl Bar?t, Gruff Rhys and Matt Helders, to name but a few. Preceding the release of their upcoming debut album ?Dream Service?, the band are releasing second single ?One In A Million?, which features the stunning vocals of Eliza Doolitle. The track is a very mellow, jazz-infused number with added Brazilian influence, making use of smooth sounding brass and lots of crash cymbal. The rhythms can almost be described as seductive, as can Eliza Doolittle?s vocals which glide nicely over the hazy grooves. With all proceeds going to charity, buying the single would certainly earn you some good karma points. But even if the single wasn?t for charity, it?s a well-written and terrifically put together track that deserves at least some attention and acclaim.
