330 Highcroft Lane, Wayzata
One of the most important decisions in buying or selling a home is finding the right agent, so what happens when two agents decide to sell the home they built and lived in for 15 years?
?It works really well representing myself because I?ve done it for years,? said John L. Laurent. Laurent and his wife, Ann, sold their five-bedroom, 10,000-square-foot home at 330 Highcroft Lane in Wayzata for $2.45 million to Lisa Vertin, closing on the deal on May 12.
The Laurents, who own John L. Laurent and Associates in Wayzata, had built, lived in and sold several homes over the years. Downsizing to a 4,600-square-foot home in Minnetonka was a challenge, but it confirmed the wisdom of their decision to do it while still young and healthy.
?Now we?re glad we did,? he said.
20545 Linden Road, Deephaven
Custom builder Streeter & Associates of Wayzata sold a home at 20545 Linden Road in Deephaven for $1.7 million to Patrick J. Peyton, closing on April 22.
The four-bedroom, five-bath house has Venetian plaster, exotic woods and stone finishes. The dramatic outdoor living space includes a concrete pool and a bluestone patio with a fireplace.
Streeter built the home for himself, but after eight years there he and his wife have bought a property on the lake, and they plan to tear down the existing house and build a new one. And even after 10 months on the market, he had no doubt his former home would sell.
?We knew when the right person walked through the door, they?d make an offer and buy it, and they did,? he said.
The buyer declined to comment.
9714 Whistling Valley Road, Lake Elmo
Hailee and Steven Meisterling bought a home at 9714 Whistling Valley Road in Lake Elmo from Pro Craft Homes, closing on the $1.1 million home on March 25.
The three-story 7,113-square-foot home is part of the 108-acre Whistling Valley development, adjacent to the Lake Elmo Park Reserve. The home has five bedrooms, six baths, a three-season porch, two laundry rooms, a theater room, an exercise room and a three-car garage.
The sale was a happy ending to a long nightmare for Jim Melcher of Pro Craft.
?It was started for another couple, and we had to foreclose on it,? Melcher said. ?It sat unfinished for two years.?
He finally made major modifications in the floor plan and finishes and put the finished home on the market. Melcher said he took a loss, but the extra work led to a sale.
